The partnership between the Shanghai Disney Resort and China Eastern continued in May 2024 with the launch of a 5th special Disney livery featuring characters from Zootopia. This is to promote the eighth themed land launched at the Shanghai park in late 2023: "City of Zootopia".
This A320 is one of only 5 operated by the Xiamen branch of the airline.
The partnership between the Shanghai Disney Resort and China Eastern continued in November 2019 with the launch of a fourth special Disney livery, this time featuring Elsa, Anna & Olaf. The aircraft was unveiled on November 22, 2019, the day Frozen 2 was relesed in theaters worldwide.
The partnership between the Shanghai Disney Resort and China Eastern continued in August 2019 with the launch of a third special Disney livery, this time featuring Duffy bear and his friends. The aircraft was painted at the Kunming Yunnan base of the airline, however the aircraft is currently in use at the main (Shanghai) branch of the airline.
The partnership between the Shanghai Disney Resort and China Eastern went further in April 2018 with the launch of the first Toy Story-themed aircraft. Toy Story Land, the park's 7th themed land, was opened on the day of the aircraft unveiling. The land features three new attractions and is full of oversized toys from the cartoon. There is also a Toy Story Hotel in the park. Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear are feartured on the plane.
China Eastern teamed up with the newly founded Shanghai Disney Resort in time for its opening to the public which took place in June 2016. The airline acts as the official carrier to bring tourists to the Disney theme park, and sells flight+hotel+ticket packages. The scheme displays the Shanghai fairy tale castle, which is the highhest of all Disney castles in the world. Mickey and Minnie Mouse welcome the passengers on the front part of the plane.
A total of 6 planes (in different Disney schemes) are expected to be painted by China Eastern. A330 B-6120 was withdrawn from use in November 2017 and replaced by sistership B-6507.
